After lunch, we did math and science. For math, we completed the first day of the first nine days of math packet. Before attending pre-planning, I was always curious as to where teachers got their materials and resources for the first days of school and now I know. The district provides the material, good to know. But for science, the intern next door, who is also in second grade, and I made a science tools pre-test, activity, and post-test. We administered the pre-test on the first day of school to see how much the students knew about science tools and to see which tools I had to provide more or less instruction on.
Overall, I had an amazing first day of school. I enjoyed getting to know my students. I am also quite proud of myself. I took the lead in almost everything on the first day and I plan on keeping up the involvement and teaching. I am glad I am able to get this much teaching experience and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for me!
